Carol Dartora

Ana Carolina Moura Melo Dartora (known as Carol Dartora ) is a Brazilian politician, history professor, historian, and activist , born on May 1, 1983, in Curitiba (PR) . She holds a degree in History from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), a specialization in Philosophy from UFSCar, a master's degree in Education from UFPR, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Technology and Society at UTFPR. She has a long history of involvement in social movements, public education, and human rights before entering Congress. She was the first Black woman elected to the Curitiba city council in 2020 , receiving the third-highest number of votes in the city, and in 2022 became the first Black woman elected to the Paraná federal House of Representatives , being one of the most voted parliamentarians in the state.

Political Career

In her political career , Carol Dartora was elected federal deputy for the Workers' Party (PT-PR) for the 57th Legislature (2023-2027) , assuming office on February 1, 2023. In Parliament, she was part of the leadership as vice-leader of the Brazil Federation of Hope (PT-PCdoB-PV) in 2023-2024, and is a member of committees such as the Education Committee and the Special Committees of the National Education Plan 2024-2034 (PL 2614/24) and PEC 27/24 (National Fund for Racial Equality).
