Ana Carolina Moura Melo Dartora (known as Carol Dartora ) is a Brazilian politician, history professor, historian, and activist , born on May 1, 1983, in Curitiba (PR) . She holds a degree in History from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), a specialization in Philosophy from UFSCar, a master's degree in Education from UFPR, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Technology and Society at UTFPR. She has a long history of involvement in social movements, public education, and human rights before entering Congress. She was the first Black woman elected to the Curitiba city council in 2020 , receiving the third-highest number of votes in the city, and in 2022 became the first Black woman elected to the Paraná federal House of Representatives , being one of the most voted parliamentarians in the state.

Political Career

In her political career , Carol Dartora was elected federal deputy for the Workers' Party (PT-PR) for the 57th Legislature (2023-2027) , assuming office on February 1, 2023. In Parliament, she was part of the leadership as vice-leader of the Brazil Federation of Hope (PT-PCdoB-PV) in 2023-2024, and is a member of committees such as the Education Committee and the Special Committees of the National Education Plan 2024-2034 (PL 2614/24) and PEC 27/24 (National Fund for Racial Equality). Her parliamentary work also includes active participation in debates on quality public education, racial equality, and climate justice, as well as involvement in parliamentary fronts related to human rights and socio-environmental development.
