Trajectory
Alceu Moreira da Silva has been a federal deputy for Rio Grande do Sul since 1980, demonstrating his experience and longevity in national politics. His chairmanship of the Milk Subcommittee and the National Front in Defense of the Distribution of Pre-Salt Resources indicates his focus on economic and natural resource issues, particularly the dairy industry and the energy sector.
His performance in various public positions, such as city councilor, vice-mayor, and mayor of Osório, as well as state representative and president of the Legislative Assembly and FAMURS, demonstrates his political versatility and his ability to lead in various spheres of government. The significant vote count he obtained in several elections, including being the third most voted federal deputy in Rio Grande do Sul in 2014 and his re-election with more than 125,000 votes in 2022, evidences his popular support and his ability to garner votes.
In the National Congress, Alceu Moreira stands out for his strong ties to the agricultural sector; he has chaired the Parliamentary Agricultural Front (FPA) and coordinates the Mixed Parliamentary Front for Biodiesel (FPBio). Among his approved bills are the law that prohibits the use of cell phones in public and private schools in the country and the one that regulates the production and sale of colonial and artisanal cheeses.
