Trajectory
Aguinaldo Velloso Borges Ribeiro was born on February 13, 1969, in Campina Grande, Paraíba , and is a trained administrator. He comes from a family with a long political tradition in the state; his father and mother have held elected office, and his sister, Daniella Ribeiro , is a senator, which influenced his public career. Affiliated with the Progressistas (PP) party , he began his political career in the state legislature before being elected federal deputy for Paraíba in 2011 , a position he has held continuously ever since.
Before taking command of the majority bloc in Congress, Aguinaldo Ribeiro was a state deputy in Paraíba from 2003 to 2011 and, at the federal level, has already held important positions in the Executive and Legislative branches, such as Minister of Cities in the Dilma Rousseff government between 2012 and 2014 and Leader of the Michel Temer Government in the House of Representatives between 2017 and 2019. His accumulated experience has consolidated him as one of the most prominent political figures in the PP and the so-called centrão (center bloc) .
In the National Congress, Aguinaldo Ribeiro currently holds the mandate of federal deputy in the 2023–2027 legislature and occupies leadership and influential positions: he has been the Majority Leader in the National Congress since April 2024 and serves as a member of the Constitution and Justice and Citizenship Committee and the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence (PL 2338/23) , in addition to participating in parliamentary working groups. According to official records from the House of Representatives, he has 26 proposals of his own authorship and 3 reported on in the current legislature (data from 2025). Among his initiatives are projects such as the PL dealing with the regulatory framework for artificial intelligence , in which he was appointed rapporteur, as well as involvement in the discussion of structural reforms, such as tax reform.
