Trajectory
Sidney Ricardo de Oliveira Leite was born on April 8, 1967, in Maués (AM). From a young age, he was strongly involved in student leadership, having founded the Union of Secondary School Students of Maués at the age of 14, and joined the University Center for Social Communication (CUCOS) and the Central Student Directory (DCE) of UFAM.
In municipal politics, he was vice-mayor of Maués (1993–1996), then mayor for two terms (1994 and 2005), in addition to holding positions such as president of the Institute of Intermunicipal Technical Cooperation (Icoti) and president of the Institute for Agricultural Development of Amazonas (IDAM). In 2010, he became a state deputy for Amazonas (re-elected in 2014), also holding positions such as Secretary of State for Rural Production (2015–2016), and Secretary of Special Projects and Technological Management (SEMTEC) in Manaus.
In 2018, Sidney Leite was elected federal deputy for Amazonas, representing the PSD party, and was re-elected in 2022 with approximately 102,189 votes. He was scheduled to begin his second consecutive term in the House of Representatives in 2023.
He contributed as rapporteur to Bill 8949/2017, which became Law 15.157/25. This law waives the periodic reassessment for people with permanent or irreversible disabilities, benefiting those retired due to disability and beneficiaries of the BPC (Continuous Cash Benefit).
He proposed the bill that prohibits undue automatic deductions from INSS benefits (PL 1846/25), seeking to prevent charges without the consent of retirees.
