Samuel José Rodrigues de Viana is a federal deputy for Minas Gerais , born on March 5, 1992, in Belo Horizonte (MG) . A lawyer by training with postgraduate studies, he is the son of Senator Carlos Viana and entered national politics by running for and being elected federal deputy in 2022 , assuming his first term on February 1, 2023, representing the Republican Party (REP-MG) in the 57th Legislature of the House of Representatives.
In his political career , Samuel Viana began his national work in Parliament in 2023 and, throughout his term, has held prominent positions in legislative activity and in the House's committees. He was vice-leader of the PL (now Republicanos) in 2023 , participated in permanent committees such as the Committee on Mines and Energy, the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development (as a full and alternate member at different times), and the Committee on National Integration and Regional Development . He also served on the External Committee on the landslide of mining tailings in Conceição do Pará (MG) and was an alternate member of the Committee on Social Security, Social Assistance, Childhood, Adolescence and Family. In 2024–2025 he was the 2nd vice-president of the Committee on Mines and Energy .
In the National Congress , Samuel Viana has a diverse legislative career, with approximately 59 proposals authored by him and 3 reported on in 2025.
