Trajectory
A metalworker and union leader, Paulo Paim began his activism at a young age, participating in student and union movements during the military dictatorship. He became one of the main leaders of the labor movement in Rio Grande do Sul and in the country.
Political career
He was elected to the Constituent Assembly in 1986, participating in the drafting of the 1988 Constitution. Subsequently, he served four consecutive terms as a federal deputy. In 2002, he was elected senator, being re-elected consecutively until 2018.
Performance in the Senate
She is a national reference in labor rights, social security, and the defense of people with disabilities, the elderly, and minorities. She chaired the Human Rights Commission and maintains constant involvement in social and labor issues.
