Trajectory
Paulo Fernando dos Santos, better known as Paulão (PT-AL), was born in Recife/PE on September 15, 1957. A law graduate with a specialization in Environmental and Urban Planning Law, he began his professional career as an electrical technician at the Alagoas Energy Company (CEAL).
Throughout his career, he distinguished himself as a union leader: he was president of the Association of Industrial Technicians of Alagoas (1986–1987), of the Union of Urban Workers of Maceió (1987–1993) and of the Unified Workers' Central (CUT) in Alagoas (1996–1997).
City councilor in Maceió (PT): 1997–1998.
State Representative for Alagoas (PT): elected in 1999, and re-elected for the terms of 2003–2006 and 2007–2010.
Federal Deputy for Alagoas (PT): assumed office on January 3, 2013, in the 2011–2015 legislature; was re-elected in 2014, 2018 and 2022, securing his fourth consecutive term until 2027.
He was deputy leader of the PT (Workers' Party), with multiple roles between 2017 and 2024, also representing the Brazil Federation of Hope.
She served as president of the Human Rights, Minorities and Racial Equality Commission (CDHMIR) between 2017 and 2018.
Currently, he is the 1st vice-president of the Consumer Protection Commission, a position he has held since April 29, 2025.
Member of the External Committee on Soil Collapse in Neighborhoods of Maceió-AL, Consumer Protection Committee, Special Committee on the Sports Incentive Law (PLP 234/24), and represents Brazil in the Mercosur Parliament.
His parliamentary performance in 2025 is reflected in the numbers: 152 proposals authored, 4 reported, 206 roll-call votes, 32 speeches.
On August 5, 2025, Paulão announced that he does not intend to run for reelection to the House of Representatives in 2026, opting instead to pursue a candidacy for the Federal Senate.

I request, pursuant to Article 155, item I, of the Internal Regulations of the House of Representatives, an Urgent Procedure for Bill 2158/23, authored by Senator EFRAIM FILHO, UNIÃO/PB, which amends Law No. 5,991, of December 17, 1973, which "provides for the Sanitary Control of the Trade in Drugs, Medicines, Pharmaceutical Inputs and Related Products, and takes other measures", to regulate the sale of medicines in pharmacies or drugstores located in the sales area of supermarkets.
