Trajectory
Nikolas Ferreira de Oliveira, born in Belo Horizonte/MG on May 30, 1996, holds a law degree from the Centro Universitário de Belo Horizonte (UniBH). Before beginning his political career, Nikolas worked as a digital influencer and social activist, gaining notoriety for his engagement in conservative causes and the defense of traditional values.
He is the son of Ruth Ferreira and the evangelical pastor Edésio de Oliveira . He is married to the model Lívia Bergamim Orletti , from Espírito Santo, and is an evangelical Christian of the Grace and Peace Community denomination.
Nikolas Ferreira began his political career as a YouTuber and activist for the Bolsonaro family on social media. He also became known for defending the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff in 2016 and later becoming the coordinator of the Direita Minas movement . In 2020, he was elected councilman of Belo Horizonte by the Brazilian Labor Renewal Party (PRTB) with 29,388 votes, being the second most voted councilman. In 2023, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) condemned the PRTB for fraud regarding gender quotas , causing the party to lose the seat Nikolas had won in the City Council, but by this time he had already assumed the position of federal deputy, a position he was elected to while already a member of the Liberal Party (PL).
While still a city councilor, in 2021 he was appointed vice-president of the Human Rights and Consumer Protection Commission . He is critical of gender ideology and the use of gender-neutral language , having presented a bill to the City Council to prohibit the use of gender-neutral language in BH schools. The bill was approved in April 2023, when Nikolas was already a federal deputy.
In the 2022 general elections, he ran for federal deputy for the Liberal Party (PL), supported by then-President Jair Bolsonaro . Throughout the electoral process, his Instagram profile was the most influential among the evangelical public in sharing content promoting Bolsonaro's reelection, surpassing even the then-First Lady, Michelle Bolsonaro.
He was elected first in the federal deputy election, receiving the most votes in Brazil in that election and the most votes in the history of Minas Gerais , with 1,492,047 votes. This vote count represented almost triple the previous record , held by Patrus Ananias (PT), who received approximately 520,000 votes in the 2002 elections.
During his term as a federal deputy, Nikolas Ferreira has distinguished himself through his work on issues related to defending the family, combating gender ideology, education, and public safety. He is the president of the Education Committee.
In 2023, he voted in favor of tax reform .
