Trajectory
Mário Lúcio Heringer is a physician graduated from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) and a hospital administrator, born on September 30, 1954, in Manhumirim (MG) . Before entering public life as a parliamentarian, he worked as an orthopedic surgeon, resided professionally in Rio de Janeiro, and held management and leadership positions in health services, such as Casa de Saúde Santa Maria and public and private hospitals. His training also includes specialization in physiatry and an MBA in quality, highlighting a solid professional trajectory in health and management.
In his political career , Heringer joined the Democratic Labor Party (PDT) in 2001 and was elected federal deputy for Minas Gerais for the first time in 2002, taking office in 2003. Since then, he has held successive mandates — 2003-2007, 2007-2011, 2011-2015, 2015-2019, 2019-2023 and 2023-2027 — consolidating himself as one of the most experienced parliamentarians in the Minas Gerais delegation in the House of Representatives. Throughout his terms, he has accumulated party and leadership roles, such as vice-leader and leader of the PDT in the House of Representatives , coordinator of the Minas Gerais delegation , ombudsman of the House and Second Secretary of the Board of Directors , in addition to presiding over the Human Rights and Minorities Commission in previous legislatures.
In the National Congress , Heringer is active in areas such as human rights, public administration, electoral policy, and social inclusion . In 2025, hundreds of proposals authored and reported by him are listed, notably projects such as PL 2309/2025 , which creates the National Bank of Heteroidentification of Candidates for the Federal Public Service ; PL 2578/2025 , which provides for the inscription of Sebastião Ribeiro Salgado Júnior in the Book of Heroes and Heroines of the Fatherland ; and PL 188/2025 , which amends the Election Law to prohibit polls that consider candidates ineligible . In previous periods, he also presented proposals such as PL 3653/2023 , which deals with environmental standards for the disposal of waste in smaller municipalities; and PL 60/2024 , which expands qualifiers in the Electoral Code. and Bill 5959/2023 , to inscribe Chico Anysio in the Book of Heroes and Heroines of the Nation. Heringer is a member of permanent committees such as Health, Mines and Energy, and Administration and Public Service , in addition to serving on special committees related to health agents and constitutional funds, reflecting a mandate focused on social legislation, public governance, and institutional strengthening .
