Trajectory
José Wilson Santiago was born on June 10, 1957, in Uiraúna, Paraíba . He is a lawyer, public defender, and federal public servant by training, with a long professional career before entering elected politics. Affiliated with the Republicanos (PB) party since 2022, he currently holds the mandate of federal deputy for Paraíba in the 2023–2027 legislature , having been elected to the position with a significant vote and having already served in other legislatures in the same post in the 2000s and 2010s.
His political career began as a state representative in Paraíba in the mid-1990s and continued at the federal level, where he served as a federal deputy between 2003 and 2011 and returned to the House of Representatives in 2019 before being re-elected for his current term. He also briefly served as a senator in 2011 and throughout his party career has held various leadership positions, such as leader and deputy leader in party blocs and deputy leader of the government, in addition to leading internal committees and actively participating in parliamentary negotiations.
In the National Congress, Wilson Santiago has continuous participation in important committees and legislative activity: in the House of Representatives he is a member of the Education Committee and the Special Committee on Amendments to Income Tax Legislation (PL 1087/25) , he is an alternate member of the Financial Oversight and Control Committee , and has held prominent positions such as 2nd vice-president of a parliamentary group and leader of the Republicans in the Joint Budget Committee (CMO) . By 2025, he has registered approximately 75 proposals of his authorship and 3 of his report in the House of Representatives system, with matters focused on education, regional development and fiscal issues, in addition to working for resources and investments for municipalities in Paraíba.

I request, pursuant to Article 155, item I, of the Internal Regulations of the House of Representatives, an Urgent Procedure for Bill 2158/23, authored by Senator EFRAIM FILHO, UNIÃO/PB, which amends Law No. 5,991, of December 17, 1973, which "provides for the Sanitary Control of the Trade in Drugs, Medicines, Pharmaceutical Inputs and Related Products, and takes other measures", to regulate the sale of medicines in pharmacies or drugstores located in the sales area of supermarkets.

Operação Pés de Barro
Subject: O deputado Wilson Santiago é um dos investigados da operação Pés de Barro, da Polícia Federal, sobre superfaturamento em obras da adutora Capivara, no interior da Paraíba, que envolveriam crimes de peculato, lavagem de dinheiro, fraude licitatória e formação de organização criminosa. Segundo a Polícia Federal, as obras foram contratadas por R$ 24,8 milhões e teria havido distribuição de propinas no valor de R$ 1,2 milhão. Na mesma operação, foi preso o prefeito de Uiraúna (PB), João Bosco Nonato Fernandes (PSDB). Defesa O advogado de defesa do deputado Wilson Santiago, Luis Henrique Machado, chamou de inconstitucional a decisão do ministro Celso de Mello, que afastou o parlamentar do mandato. Machado afirmou que Santiago está sendo objeto de um “definhamento midiático” diante do levantamento do sigilo das investigações antes do acesso da defesa. “Só tivemos acesso no dia 28 de janeiro, tivemos agora o recesso, e os blogs da Paraíba estão dando notícia das decisões”, criticou. Santiago chegou a ser afastado do cargo de deputado pelo ministro do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) Celso de Mello. Porém, a decisão foi revertida por votação do Plenário da Câmara em 05/02/2020. Assim, o parlamentar pode voltar a exercer seu mandato, pois perde validade a medida cautelar do Supremo que o afastou em dezembro de 2019.
