Trajectory
João Chrisóstomo de Moura is a federal deputy who originates from the state of Amazonas. His academic background includes a degree in engineering from the Agulhas Negras Military Academy (AMAN) in 1984, after studying at the institution between 1980 and 1984. Furthermore, he has military experience as a colonel in the Army, which may influence his perspective and political actions.
He entered politics in 2015 by joining the PRB. Later, in 2018, he chose to switch to the PSL in order to run for a seat in the House of Representatives. However, during his career, he made two more party changes, first to União Brasil and then to PL. These changes can be interpreted in different ways, possibly related to political strategies or the search for alliances more aligned with his objectives.
In the 2018 elections, João Chrisóstomo de Moura was elected federal deputy with a total of 28,000 votes. He stood out as part of the governing bloc of then-President Jair Bolsonaro and reached the position of vice-leader during the first year of his term. Furthermore, he participated in the public security and evangelical blocs in the House of Representatives. This activity demonstrates his involvement in security-related issues, as well as his affiliation with the evangelical bloc, which often has influence on certain agendas in the Brazilian political landscape.
In the 2022 elections, even with a reduction in the number of votes, totaling 24,000, João Chrisóstomo de Moura secured his seat in the House of Representatives again, being the fifth most voted among the eight federal deputies elected by the state of Rondônia. This indicates that, despite the decrease in the number of votes, he still has significant support among his local electorate.
In summary, João Chrisóstomo de Moura is a federal deputy with a military background and an engineering degree, who entered politics in 2015 and has been active in different parties throughout his career. He stood out for his affiliation with Jair Bolsonaro's government bloc, his participation in thematic blocs, and his consecutive election to the House of Representatives, even with a reduction in the number of votes.
