Trajectory
Iza Paula de Deus e Mello Albuquerque Arruda was born on September 6, 1987 , in Vitória de Santo Antão (PE) . A physiotherapist by training, she worked as a university professor, course coordinator, and vice-rector at the Facol University Center (Unifacol) in her city before formally entering politics. Affiliated with the MDB , she was elected federal deputy for Pernambuco in 2022 with 103,950 votes , assuming her first term in the House of Representatives for the 2023–2027 legislature .
In her political career, Iza Arruda consolidated a strong electoral base in the interior of Pernambuco and leadership within the state MDB party, including as president of MDB Mulher (MDB Women) in the state . In Congress, she was part of blocs led by the MDB and its allies, served as vice-leader in party blocs since 2023, and was elected general coordinator of the National Observatory of Women in Politics of the House of Representatives in 2025, strengthening her work on gender issues and social rights.
In the House of Representatives, Iza Arruda is a member of the Health Committee and other special committees focused on topics such as obstetric violence and constitutional rights of early childhood, in addition to being an alternate member of committees such as Education and Science and Technology. By 2025, she had registered approximately 146 proposals of her own authorship and 9 of which she was the rapporteur . Among his projects are bills such as PL 1870/2025 (includes sunscreen preparations in the Popular Pharmacy Program), PL 2614/2025 (establishes the National Day of Awareness about Congenital Zika Syndrome), PL 2650/2025 (National Policy for Attention to People with Celiac Disease) and PL 4631/2024 (ensures physiotherapy assistance during childbirth), in addition to leading initiatives, including those sanctioned, such as Law No. 15,249/2025 , which establishes the National Policy on Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
