Emidinho Madeira

Emídio Alves Madeira Júnior, better known as Emidinho Madeira , was born on March 10, 1967, in Nova Resende (Minas Gerais). A rural producer by profession, he worked for years in the agricultural sector, especially in the South and Southwest of Minas Gerais, participating in local associations and having a strong regional presence as president of the Coffee Growers Commission and a leader in the coffee sector.

Political career

His political career included a term as a state representative for Minas Gerais between 2015 and 2019, first elected with 66,018 votes. In 2018, he was elected federal deputy, assuming his first term in the House of Representatives in 2019, and was re-elected in 2022 for the 2023-2027 legislature, now affiliated with the PL party.

Performance in the House of Representatives

In the National Congress, Emidinho Madeira focuses his work on issues related to agribusiness, health, and the demands of the productive regions he represents. He is a member of the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development (CAPADR) , where he has previously served as vice-president. In 2025, he authored 48 proposals and reported on 3 legislative projects. He conceived initiatives such as the Elective Surgery Program, which has already allocated resources to reduce the waiting list for medical procedures in the South of Minas Gerais region, and proposed projects such as PL 47/2019 , which creates economic subsidies for rural producers or cooperatives that market coffee; PL 1,934/2019 , which provides for rebates on rural credit operations for municipalities in a state of emergency due to drought; and also worked on indicating amendments for infrastructure, public health, rural roads, and support for municipalities in his electoral base. The amendments he allocated also included resources for hospitals, roads, and security, such as over R$ 1.2 million for the municipality of Carmo do Rio Claro in 2025, to eliminate the waiting list for elective surgeries and equip the local health network. Furthermore, his voting agenda includes support for reforms such as the pension reform and the autonomy of the Central Bank; he opposed the privatization of Eletrobrás and voted in favor of the PEC (Proposed Constitutional Amendment) on Precatórios (court-ordered payments).
