Douglas de Paulo Viegas (known as Douglas Viegas or by his digital influencer nickname "Poderosíssimo Ninja" ) is a Brazilian politician born on June 19, 1979, in São Paulo . He is a former professional basketball player in Brazil, having played for clubs such as São Bernardo, Joinville, Barueri, and Palmeiras , and a former executive director of the Brazilian Professional Basketball Athletes Association (AAPB) . Before entering the legislature, he gained a strong presence on social media with millions of followers and motivational and sports content, which propelled his entry into politics when he ran for federal deputy for UNIÃO Brasil-SP in the 2022 elections, obtaining 76,149 votes as an alternate .
In his political career , Viegas assumed the mandate of federal deputy in the 57th Legislature (2023-2027) as an acting substitute since December 20, 2023 , alternating periods of tenure according to the House's procedural rules. He has already held legislative positions as a full member of the Sports Committee and the Culture Committee , and as an alternate member of the Tourism Committee , in addition to being a member of the Black Caucus of the House of Representatives . He also served as a full member of the Special Committee on the Sports Incentive Law (PLP 234/24) and participated in external committees such as the one that monitored the accident of Voepass flight 2283 .
In the National Congress , Douglas Viegas has an active legislative participation with more than 150 proposals of his authorship and 17 reported in 2025 registered on the House of Representatives's portal. His parliamentary work in running text includes proposals mainly aimed at promoting sport and sports culture in Brazil , such as PL 2151/2024 , which establishes the National Policy "Sport in All Schools" ; PL 4858/2024 , which establishes the National Day of Sportsmanship ; PL 4714/2024 , which establishes the National Day of Sports Journalism ; and PL 2776/2024 , which provides for the granting of Athlete Scholarships to athletes in the master category or similar . He also introduced Bill 4957/2024 , which declares sacred ancestral rapé as a manifestation of national culture , reflecting his emphasis on sports, culture, and the promotion of social values linked to inclusion and community participation in Brazil.
