Darci Pompeo de Mattos is a Brazilian lawyer, banker, and politician born on July 12, 1958, in Santo Augusto (RS). From a young age, he was active in student and political movements inspired by the labor movement of Getúlio Vargas and Leonel Brizola, being one of the founders of the PDT in 1979. His legal training and experience in criminal law marked the beginning of his public career, which led him to hold various elected positions throughout more than four decades of political activism.
Throughout his political career , Pompeo de Mattos has held various positions of popular representation and institutional leadership. He was a city councilor and mayor of Santo Augusto , where he began his public career, and a state representative in Rio Grande do Sul before going to the National Congress. He is a federal deputy for the PDT party representing Rio Grande do Sul , serving consecutive terms since 1999 , with re-elections and intervals, currently in the 2023-2027 legislature, accumulating experience in various parliamentary fronts. In his party work in the House of Representatives, he has served as vice-leader of the PDT , vice-leader of the minority, and led parliamentary blocs, demonstrating influence and articulation in the National Congress.
In his legislative work , Pompeo de Mattos has produced an extensive body of proposals covering topics such as culture, social rights, and worker protection. Among the projects he has presented are Bill 4661/2024 , which includes the name of Alberto Pasqualini in the Book of Heroes and Heroines of the Nation, recognizing his historical contributions to Brazilian labor rights, and Bill 4664/2024 , which establishes National Gaucho Day to be celebrated on September 20th throughout the country. In 2025, he also presented projects such as Bill 5399/2025 , which extends the bereavement leave period for public servants in cases of the death of family members with significant emotional ties, and various other proposals on civil, social security, and social issues, such as amending the CLT (Consolidation of Labor Laws) to characterize hazardous work activities and protecting the Continuous Benefit Payment (BPC). Furthermore, he participates as 1st vice-president of the Special Commission on the Municipal Participation Fund and Constitutional Funds for the South/Southeast , demonstrating his involvement in thematic commissions important for regional and municipal development.

I request, pursuant to Article 155, item I, of the Internal Regulations of the House of Representatives, an Urgent Procedure for Bill 2158/23, authored by Senator EFRAIM FILHO, UNIÃO/PB, which amends Law No. 5,991, of December 17, 1973, which "provides for the Sanitary Control of the Trade in Drugs, Medicines, Pharmaceutical Inputs and Related Products, and takes other measures", to regulate the sale of medicines in pharmacies or drugstores located in the sales area of supermarkets.
