Cleitinho

Cleitinho Azevedo, born in Divinópolis/MG on January 23, 1983, is a musician and Senator of the Republic for the Republicanos party. Before entering politics, he worked as a salesman in a family business in his hometown. He is the twin brother of Gleidson Azevedo , the current mayor of Divinópolis, and the younger brother of Eduardo Azevedo , the current state representative of Minas Gerais. He is Catholic .

Political career

Cleitinho Azevedo began his political career by making promotional videos for his music. According to him, his twin brother, Gleidson, drew his attention to his growing popularity as a result of the videos and encouraged him to run for office. He was the third most voted councilman in Divinópolis , with 3,023 votes, in the 2016 election, representing the Popular Socialist Party (PPS), now Cidadania.

In 2018, he was elected state representative for Minas Gerais with 115,492 votes, the fourth highest vote count in the election . In 2022, he was elected senator for Minas Gerais by the Social Christian Party (PSC), obtaining 41.52% of the valid votes and totaling 4,268,193 voters. He is currently affiliated with the Republicans party.

Performance in the Federal Senate

During his term as senator, Cleitinho has distinguished himself through his work on issues related to transparency, combating corruption, and fighting privileges.

• Co-author of Constitutional Amendment Proposal 72/2023 , which exempts passenger land vehicles 20 years or older from paying the Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) .

In 2023, he voted against the Tax Reform .
