Trajectory
The son of public defender José Euclides Ferreira Gomes Júnior, former mayor of Sobral, and teacher Maria José Santos Ferreira Gomes, he began his studies in his hometown. He graduated in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) in Fortaleza, where he even served as president of the Academic Center. He is the brother of Ciro Gomes, former mayor of Fortaleza, former state and federal deputy, former governor of Ceará, former presidential candidate, and former Minister of Finance and National Integration. His other brother, Ivo Gomes, is a former state deputy and current mayor of Sobral.
In 2013, he was listed as one of the 60 most powerful figures in the country by the IG portal.
Cid Gomes is married to Maria Célia Habib Moura Ferreira Gomes and is the father of Rodrigo Dias Ferreira Gomes (born in 1997), Matheus Habib Ferreira Gomes (born in 2007), and Pedro Gomes (born in 2015).
