Átila de Melo Lira was born on April 1, 1980, in Teresina, Piauí . A lawyer, businessman, and professor, he is the son of politician Átila Freitas Lira and holds degrees in Law, a master's degree in Public Sector Economics, and a doctorate in Production Engineering. Before his federal election, he served as pro-rector and director at higher education institutions in Piauí, in addition to union activity and serving as an advisor to educational entities.
He was elected federal deputy for Piauí by the Progressistas (PP) party in 2022 and assumed his first term in the 2023–2027 legislature in the House of Representatives . Since November 2025, he has served as vice-leader of the União, PP, PSD, Republicanos, MDB, Federação PSDB Cidadania and PODE bloc , which positions him at the center of the allied base's articulations.
In the National Congress, Átila Lira is actively involved in committees and legislative production. He was the 1st vice-president of the Education Committee (March 2024 to March 2025) and currently serves as a full member of the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committee, the Special Committee on Digital Law, and the Special Committee on the National Education Plan 2024–2034 (PL 2614/24) , in addition to participating as an alternate member of other committees and Parliamentary Inquiry Commissions. By 2025, he had registered 64 proposals of his own authorship and 9 of his own report in the House of Representatives' system, with projects addressing topics such as higher education, incentives for sports, and changes in educational legislation.

I request, pursuant to Article 155, item I, of the Internal Regulations of the House of Representatives, an Urgent Procedure for Bill 2158/23, authored by Senator EFRAIM FILHO, UNIÃO/PB, which amends Law No. 5,991, of December 17, 1973, which "provides for the Sanitary Control of the Trade in Drugs, Medicines, Pharmaceutical Inputs and Related Products, and takes other measures", to regulate the sale of medicines in pharmacies or drugstores located in the sales area of supermarkets.
